Matthew Anklan is an in-demand trumpet artist from Cincinnati, Ohio who has performed and recorded with many notable artists and groups including Bootsy Collins, The Kentucky Symphony Orchestra, The Glenn Miller Orchestra, Michael Faulkner, Carnival Cruise Lines and many more. Equally at home in any genre of music, Matthew maintains a very active performance schedule.

"The 1580 has been my main axe since late April. I have a lot of nice horns, but ever since getting my hands on the Blessing the other B-flats haven't left the house. Last Wednesday I played lead, section and solo trumpet with the Blue Wisp Big Band, Friday I played a night club, Saturday played a brass quintet gig from 1-5PM then another night club gig from 9-1. I play regular salsa gigs, teach and sometimes play with the Kentucky Symphony. Coupled with the right mouthpiece for the gig, this horn does it all better than any other horn I've ever had. I'm very traditional, but extremely picky when choosing gear. This horn has a beautiful, classic trumpet sound that gets that "Doc Severinsen thing" when pushed. The horn plays ridiculously smooth from top to bottom (Everyone comments on that when they try my horn) and the build quality is top-notch.

Try one, you'll be glad you did."

The BTR-1580 is a completely new design by Fred Powell with a one piece bell, ML bore and plays bigger than the average Bach Stradivarius.

I repair a lot of Bach Stradivarius trumpets and until I play tested this Blessing BTR-1580S I always considered them the best but now Bach has some real competition and at a price that is more affordable.

Searching the web for a Bach enables me to come up with a Low Price of $2550 which is still $550 more than the BTR-1580S that I think plays better in the upper register.

As stated on a TrumpetMaster Forum: "So I am wondering why the standard bach strads feel stuffy to me. I really wanted to like these and a few other trumpets I tried today but many of them felt stuffy and hard to play upper register. The more open horns were easier to play and sounded better when I played them."

The Blessing BTR-1580 Series Bb Trumpet offers a new design to the All-American offering of Blessing. The BTR-1580 series features a .460-inch bore combined with a new pro series leadpipe and tuning slide design for superior note slotting and intonation.

The 1580 also features a new one-piece hand-hammered commercial bell for excellent response and projection. The BTR-1580 also features a new pro series valve design with hand lapped Monel pistons. The Blessing BTR-1580 Series Bb Trumpet includes a Blessing 7C mouthpiece and deluxe wood case and is available in lacquer (BTR-1580), vintage raw (BTR-1580V) silver (BTR-1580S) or silver with gold plated trim (BTR-1580G) finish.

The 1580 ranks as Blessings highest achievement thus far on the path to extraordinary pro brass design and performance. The free blowing nature yet tightly slotted and centered intonation deliver vibrations to the one piece hand hammered bell that creates a commercial tone one would only expect from on instrument selling for 2 to 3 times the price. Simply stated, there is no professional trumpet made today that compares to the value delivered by the Blessing BTR-1580. This is one of the completely re-designed trumpets made after the takeover of Blessing by Powell Flutes and they are quality trumpets completely made in USA.
